Ecologies of Closeness
概要
Showcase for promising young artists presents installations by Maya Erin Masuda
Wielding a plethora of media including video and liquids, Masuda interrogates the impact of our anthropocentric society on the natural world and the flora and fauna within it, exploring connections between the “biopolitics” of state control over life and birth, and technology, from a queer ecology viewpoint.
“Ecologies of Closeness” will consist primarily of new works based on research around radiationinduced changes in skin, and changes in animals and land exposed to contamination, accompanied by past works such as Pour Your Body Out (2023). Don’t miss this thought-provoking exhibition laying bare the realities of being compelled to live with invisible toxicity, and presenting some of the odd, and oddly intimate, relationships that arise between the humans who have created such environments, and the entities affected by them.
