Ryuichi Sakamoto’s masterpiece about the bioelectric potential of trees resurfaces at historic places in Yamaguchi!
Presented in this exhibition is the installation piece “Forest Symphony” that the composer Ryuichi Sakamoto created and unveiled at YCAM in 2013. The event is part of the “Yamaguchi Seasonal 2025” program of exhibitions of works that were previouly made and shown at YCAM, presented at historic sites and other places in downtown Yamaguchi.
The installation creates sounds from data of the bioelectric potential of trees in forests from around the world, which has been temporarily exhibited since 2020 at “Sesshu Garden” at Joeiji Temple in Yamaguchi City, and it is the 6th exhibition this year.

The Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media, commonly known as “YCAM”, is an art center located in Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.In addition to exhibition spaces, the Center’s facilities include a cinema, a library and workshop spaces among others.Operating around a central axis defined by the pursuit of new artistic expression incorporating media technology, the Center has been hosting a variety of events including exhibitions, performances, movie screenings, workshops for children, etc. since its opening in November 2003.
