Grupo de Rua

Dance Company

Grupo de Rua were founded on July 15, 1996 by Bruno Beltrão and Rodrigo Bernard. At first they were active in the world of street dance, participating in dance competitions, dance festivals, and television programs. In 2001 they premiered their duet “From Popping to Pop” at the “Duos de Dança” (Dance Duets) festival, marking their debut in the Rio de Janeiro contemporary dance scene. Bernardi then left the group in the same year. Since then, Beltrão has done the choreography for most of their premiered pieces.

They have premiered many pieces, including “Too Legit to Quit” in 2002, “Telesquat” in 2003, “H2” in 2005, and “H3” in 2008, all while performing in hundreds of cities in over 30 countries around the world, including Japan. While group took a long respite after premiering “Crackz” in 2013, they have since resumed their activities after holding auditions for new dancers for the production of “Inoah,” which they premiered in 2017.
