Appearing in this talk event held in connection with “YCAM Open Lab 2019: Understanding Living Culture” are members of YCAM Bio Research, a project launched as part of YCAM’s research and development activities with the setup of a biolab space in the YCAM building in 2015.

YCAM Bio Research has been focusing on application possibilities of biotechnology as an increasingly familiar discipline in recent years, from the viewpoints of art, education, and community design. This event will offer an overview of the current situation of DIY biotechnology in Japan, with a number of concrete examples of previous community and art-related projects carried out as part of the YCAM Bio Research activities.
