FEN

FEN is a cross-border collective exploring new connections around Otomo Yoshihide and a group of other self-reliant key figures in the experimental music scenes of East Asian cities such as Tokyo, Beijing, Singapore and Seoul, between which there hasn't been much interaction up to now. After being invited to perform at "Festival MIMI", an experimental music festival in Marseille in 2008, the group has played numerous concerts in various European and Asian countries. Rather than relying on existing musical formats, the idea that inspired the launch of FEN was to build a new network and see what kind of music emerges from there. Accordingly, their improvised live performances are totally different each time. Expectations are high as to how this project will continue to shape the network between musicians in these previously rather unconnected cities, and what will come out as a result.
