The stairwell is flooded with natural light from the courtyards on the left and right, and serves as a free, open space that invited people to sit down and relax. Generally functioning as YCAM's entrance, the foyer is at once an anteroom kind of space comparable to the lobby that usually connects the interior and exterior of a theatre. Using the main stairway as an audience stand, the foyer can be used as a venue for performances, concerts and lectures, and also as a place to hold workshops or show installations. The versatility of this unique space makes the foyer a symbol of the general flexibility that characterizes YCAM.
