He was born in Kandangan, Temanggung on the 21st of April 1968. He did elementary until high school in Temangung. After finishing high school in 1986, he continued his study in Product Design in Institute Teknologi Bandung, and graduated in 1992. At the last year of his study, he was interested in community and village problems which then realized in his graduation project with the topic developing design of radio using local material and crafting method. From 1992 to 1994, he worked in a wood-craft company in Bandung. During that time, he learned a lot about craft from Mr. Surya Pernawa the owner of the company. In 1994, he decided to return to his village, Kandangan, and started a partnership company produce wooden toys for export market. In 2004 he resigned from the partnership and built his own company with the brand Magno which produced wooden radio. This wooden radio gained a lot of international awards and world wide publication. His love and empathy to the degradation of the village encourage him to find the solution. In 2012, he started Spedagi, a social movement focus on Village Revitalization with the Spedagi Bamboo Bike he designed and produced as its icon. As he believes Village Revitalization is a global movement, he initiated an international conference on Village Revitalization. It’s a bi annual conference about Village Revitalization. The 1st ICVR held in his village, Kandangan, Temanggung-Indonesia on March 2014. That’s probably the first international conference about village and held in a village, combines seminars, workshops, excursion and performance.
